Dear Classmates,
A year and a half planning and over 600 e-mails in my 1959 reunion file and it is all over. What a wonderful weekend we had. The golf tournament and picnic were filled with sunshine, laughter, prizes and very good food but mostly filled with the renewal of old friendships. By Saturday, not only were old friendships renewed but new bonds were forming. The tour of the school was quite a surprise with its beautiful additions. Over 70 of us enjoyed the tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's Darwin Martin House. Saturday night we enjoyed a wonderful dinner and then a terrific dance at the Launch Club...all to the music of the CD made especially for the event. No one wanted the party to stop so rumor has it that there was continued celebration back at the Holiday Inn. Sunday morning saw us at Crazy Jakes for brunch and some very sad farewells.
And finally I would like to close with a quote from Jim Nixon:
"I hope you will forgive the obscure literary allusion but in the sixteenth century (I believe it was) a Japanese poet, Basho, penned the line "It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive". That's often true but, once in a while, the event itself does completely transcend the anticipation. So it was with our 50th Reunion."
What next?
Warmest regards,
Susan Weiss Lichtblau
