Lawrence E. Hochreiter
Lawrence E. Hochreiter passed away on September 3rd of 2008. The following are excerpts from an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. A native of Buffalo, Mr. Hochreiter joined Westinghouse soon after earning his doctorate in nuclear engineering from Purdue University in 1971. A consulting engineer, he was also an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University as well Penn State during many of his 25 years at Westinghouse. Mr. Hochreiter was a world expert in reactor problems dealing with loss of coolant, Foulke said, assisting with the recovery at Three Mile Island and pioneering research in the thermal-hydraulic reactor behavior. He was a beloved instructor, said Jack Brenzier Jr., chairman of Penn State's nuclear engineering department, which Mr. Hochreiter joined full time in 1997. He won the "Outstanding Teaching Award" in 2005 from the school's Engineering Society."He was a born teacher, excellent in the classroom," Brenzier said. "It's a huge loss for us."

Tim Burns
In October 2007 was inducted into the KWHS Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments in Track and Cross Country for KHS in the 50's. He is also a member of the Buffalo State Athletic Hall of Fame.

Don Dussing
In May 2008 was inducted into KWHS Corridor of Honor for his accomplishments as an Executive with the M&T Bank and his many community activities.

Dick "Fox" Ferrel
Several times has completed the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii consisting of a 2 mile swim, 102 mile bike ride and 26 mile run.

Bruce Turek and Paul Wison
After sailing around the world and seeing many interesting places over several years, Paul Wilson has sold his boat, settled down in Alaska, and switched from sail to skis. His son is a former member of the US Olympic ski team. Bruce Turek lives on a boat off the coast of Florida.

Don Guercio
After starting his career in the sports equipment field with Cooper of Canada, was one of the first eight national sales reps selected by Nike. As a result he has rubbed shoulders with many sports celebrities over the years. Currently owner of a TV station in Sarasota, Florida, Don was recently featured on ESPN after he had been selected to give the eulogy at the funeral of football great Otto Graham.

Gail Allen, Janet Bouton, Karen Hayes
While we were at KHS the school's policy was to have 9 cheerleaders, 3 sophomores, 3 juniors, 3 seniors and the girls were asked to try out each year. It is not known how long KWHS carried on this tradition, but this trio is thought to be the only one that stayed in tact during their high school career in the history of KHS/KWHS. Today KWHS and KEHS each have approximately 20 varsity cheerleaders and an additional 20 on the JV.

Bonnie Green Bruning
Bonnie was the first woman in WNY to own and operate her own charter fishing business, Bee Fishing Charters. She earned and maintains her US Coast Guard Master's License. Bonnie is also a graduate of the Richard Petty Race Car Driving in school in Charlotte, N.C. She is affiliated with the SPCA, Winston Cup Racing Wives Auxiliary, Founder of Bridget Fund for Indigent Animals, as well as many other social and civic activities. Bonnie is currently an Accounting Manager at the law firm of Siegel, Kelleher & Kahn, in Buffalo, NY.
